Review why current members
invest their time and money with the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of
Commerce.

Electric Motor Shop and Supply Co. has been in business in
Fresno
for 93 years and a member of the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of
Commerce for the last 50 years.
As a business in the electrical distribution, sales and engineering
industry, the Chamber has served as a major conduit for networking
with business leaders that serve our industry.
The Chamber promotes the growing economy in
Fresno, offers programs that helped our business, speaks and advocates on behalf of businesses and
has developed a thriving
commerce through their community stewardship. Electric Motor Shop
looks forward to many more years of a committed relationship with
the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce.

In using the vision
statement of the
San Joaquin
Political
Academy, “A healthy business climate is fundamental to a strong economy. A
strong economy is necessary for a vibrant community,” the
Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce has been the voice of
business for over 100 years. It
has been the advocate at all levels of government to keep our
community strong and growing. As a
past president of the Chamber, I would strongly recommend you join the other 2,000 members that are already making
Fresno
a great city.

Our company joined the
Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce in 1972. I knew the Chamber began
serving the needs of an emerging business community back in the
early 1900’s. Today
the mission of our Chamber is to enhance business and cultural
vitality throughout
Fresno
County
.
I served eight years on
the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
During my board tenure I learned in depth how the Chamber
supports its members through various committees, governmental policy
oversight, lobbying and offering seminars and membership mixers. Through our involvement we
have gained business knowledge which has aided our company. I know every day the Chamber
works to make Fresno
a better place to live, raise a family and work. I believe a vibrant business
environment is the backbone for a vibrant community. That’s why we belong to the
Chamber.
I have lived in
Fresno
all my life, experiencing our community’s ups and downs. While we still face many
challenges in Fresno, what if there was no Chamber these past 112 years? We would be worse off. Investigate membership, join
and get involved. You
will be glad you did.

When our family first
started Denham Personnel (now Denham Resources) in 1970 we joined
the Chamber because it was the right thing to do for any business. Jean and Bud Denham, our
founders, recognized that even if, as a new business start up, they
did not have the time to devote to volunteering at the Chamber, the
Chamber would be working every day to improve the business climate
and our community.
Since then, members of our family and staff have been able to serve
the community through volunteering at the Chamber. My mother-in-law, Jean,
served on the Chamber Board in the late 1970’s. Dave Denham chaired a
successful Chamber golf tournament and other staff members have
volunteered on various Chamber committees. I was honored to serve on the
Chamber Board of Directors for eight years and as Chairman of the
Board. All of these
experiences have enriched our personal lives as well as our
businesses.
I strongly believe that any community is only as strong as its
businesses. I have seen
the Chamber take on tough challenges to our community and succeed. If you have time to give to
the community, the Chamber will have a place for you. If you do not, your
membership alone will help the Chamber to achieve its mission to
promote business and enhance the economic and cultural well-being of
Fresno
county residents.

The Business Journal has been a proud member of the
Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce since 1925 - and during all
those years, the Chamber has been an invaluable partner in The
Business Journal’s mission to keep the Valley informed of the
events in the business world that will have an impact on our area.
Our reason for our support is simple: The Chamber’s role
advocating for an improved business climate cannot be understated.
Because of its efforts, policymakers at the national, state and
local levels are beginning to give real attention to workers’
compensation, outdated fee structures, and reducing red tape. The
Chamber’s success has been the business community’s success, and
we all see a daily benefit from its efforts.
But there’s still a lot of work to be done - and
that’s why I continue to support our local Chamber. They give the
Valley’s business community their voice and they work tirelessly
to improve our economy, one challenge at a time.
