The Official Ground Breaking for Segment 3 of the extension to the Kings Canyon Expressway (State Route 180) was held on Thursday, October 12th and was attended by dignitaries from the California Department of Transportation, Fresno County Transportation, Caltrans, Fresno County Board of Supervisors, Fresno COG, California Highway Patrol, Sanger District Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce.
Public Information Officer for Caltrans, Sam Yniguez, was the master of ceremonies and kept the event moving quickly and made what could have been a “dull” event lively and fun! Delicious refreshments were served and they gave out “Measure C” blankets for all those who attended!
This final segment of this expressway is designed to improve the traffic flow to the Eastern part of Fresno County and Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks. It will also increase the ease of use for both businesses and residents in the Eastern part of Fresno County to reduce the travel time to and from those areas and increase the safety of motorists. From downtown Fresno, the travel time to get all the way out to Sanger was only about 18 minutes.
The Official Ground Breaking with Ernest “Buddy” Mendes, Malcolm Dougherty, Paul Von Konynenburg, Nathan Magsig, Amarpreet Dhaliwal, Nathan Ahle, Lee Delap and Shaun Crosswhite.
